Scientist/Investigator (Biological Chemist & Pharmacologist), Disease Biology  

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform determination of the mode of action of antibacterial small molecules.

  • Responsible for target identification, using systems biology techniques involving transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics.

  • Develop novel biochemical assays for analysis of multi-component systems such as transcription, translation, respiration and cell membrane/wall biosynthesis.

  • Develop animal infection models for target validation or efficacy testing.


Minimum Requirements

  • Master or PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbial genetics, infectious disease or the related biological sciences with 0-6 year experience.

  • Knowledge and experience in bacterial infections is highly appreciated. Demonstrable skills in data analysis including programming and statistics would be a plus.

Open Rank Scientist, Infectious Disease  

Key Responsibilities

  • The duties of this position will involve supporting and/or leading a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative therapeutic drugs for infectious diseases such as TB or viral infections caused by HBV, DENV and ZIKV.

  • The candidate will use in vitro HTS assays to identify innovative drug hits and animal models to evaluate the efficacy of hits and the mechanism of action of these hits.

  • The candidate will work both independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment to design, execute, interpret and communicate immunology studies for one or more projects utilizing good scientific judgment and strong team skills.


Minimum Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in appropriate discipline required (e.g., virology, immunology, cell biology, molecular biology).

Open rank Scientist, Structure Biology  

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with GHDDI multi-disciplinary project teams, including Disease Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, Computation-Aided Drug Design, Artificial Intelligence Drug Discovery and HTS platform, in various drug-discovery projects.

  • Apply expertise in protein expression/production, biochemistry/biophysical characterization, protein structure-function elucidation to aid the drug-discovery process at GHDDI.


Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in the fields of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Structural Biology, Molecular Biology or any related fields with minimum of 2-year of post-graduate experience or a MS degree with minimum of 5-year post-graduate working experience in the related fields.

  • Have extensive hands-on experiences in molecular biology techniques, recombinant protein production in various expression systems.

  • In-depth knowledge on protein biochemistry and biophysics is a must.

  • Hands-on experiences in structure determination techniques, including x-ray crystallography, cyro-EM or NMR is preferred.

  • Experience with molecular modeling, protein structure determination software , such as Phenix, COOT, CCP4, RELION, ability to use common structural visualization tools, including Pymol, for sharing structural information and structure analysis, is a plus.

  • Be result-oriented, be able to independently design and execute the experimental plans with the aims to provide insightful information to speed up the drug-discovery process.

  • Be proficient to integrate various biochemical, biophysical and structure analysis tools for drug target characterization.

主要职责

  • 负责实验动物的饲喂及日常观察;

Key Responsibilities

  • Be able to handle large data sets including DNA/RNA seq, NGS assembly, omics data such as proteomics, PDB, etc.

  • Perform sequence/omics data analysis etc to help with genome annotation and functional/metabolic pathway analysis. Relevant areas include (but are not limited to) metagenomics, metabolomics, proteomics and other omics

Big Data Engineer/Data Scientist  

Key Responsibilities

  • Write reusable, testable, and efficient code based on project requirement and existing source code

  • Implement in-house big data application involving data integration, data mining and natural language processing based on pre-designed architecture

Minimum Requirements

Head of Preclinical and Early Clinical Development (Director/VP)  

Key Responsibilities

  • Key member of GHDDI Scientific Leadership Team.

  • Provides overall strategy and direction of preclinical and early clinical trials, processes and procedure.

Scientist/ Investigator (Host Immune Defense), Disease Biology  

Key Responsibilities

  • Study the host response and mechanism of action to infection in various infectious diseases including TB, malaria, viral infection and other public health diseases.

  • Identify the interacting signaling pathways and the key proteins in host cells in responding to pathogens and other environmental challenges.

  • Isolate and establish primary immuno-cell culture based on the special properties of various types of immune cells.

  • In collaboration with assay development group to identify biochemical or cellular assays to screen for cmpds improving host immune system against challenges.

  • Develop additional assays for hit validation and triage.

  • Work closely with medichem group to examine in vitro efficacy of cmds as a guidance to SAR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Have years of experience and in-depth understanding of infectious diseases and targets, and have the knowledge to strengthen the translational aspects of the projects.

Investigator and above, Medicinal Chemistry  

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the medicinal chemistry activities of one or more small-molecule drug discovery projects at target validation, hit to lead or lead optimization stages.

  • Work together with core team members across multiple disciplines to design and implement project strategies for the advancement of projects leading to the identification of high-quality preclinical candidates.

  • Independently design biologically active molecules and conduct SAR studies to meet the project goals; design synthetic routes and lead the internal or external chemistry team in the synthesis and characterization of drug candidates for the projects.

  • Work with computational chemistry group to develop structure-based target molecules for projects.

  • Proactively communicate project strategy, critical issues and recommendations to enable appropriate resource decisions.

  • Provide supervision, scientific mentorship and technical training of the team members.

  • Maintain excellent communication across internal and external team members.


Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or related discipline.

  • A minimum of five years of experience in medicinal chemistry required; candidates with demonstrable hands-on small molecule drug discovery and pre-clinical development experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry highly desired.

  • Strong track record of individual and team-level contributions to the discovery and pre-clinical development of small molecule clinical candidates supported with high impact publications, oral presentations and patent applications.

  • Excellent background and expertise in organic chemistry with a high level of synthetic skill including novel route design is essential.

  • Demonstrated project leadership experience in leading all stages of small molecule drug discovery with the ability to define strategy and critical decision making.

  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with members of the research and management teams in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.

  • Experience in leading and collaborating with chemistry teams from CROs is a plus but not required.

  • Independently design and carry out efficient synthesis, purification and characterization of drug candidates for target validation, hit-to-lead and lead optimization projects.

  • Develop and apply innovative synthetic and medicinal chemistry problem solving skills to build structure-activity relationships.

  • Work under supervision of senior members to design biologically active molecules and conduct SAR studies to meet the project goals.

  • Work with computational chemistry group to develop structure-based target molecules for projects.

  • Provide scientific mentorship and technical training of the team members.

  • Supervise and manage the external chemistry team to execute all chemistry plan on projects with superb performance.

  • Establish a substantial external scientific presence including authoring significant scientific publications and presentations.


Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or related discipline with a minimum of one-year industry experience in drug discovery.

  • Strong background and experience in organic chemistry (methodology, catalysis, total synthesis etc) is required, along with a proven track record of solving complex problems.

  • Good problem solving and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with members of the research teams in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.

  • Experience in leading and collaborating with CRO chemistry teams is a plus.

Research Associate, Medicinal Chemistry  

Key Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Independently carry out efficient synthesis, purification and characterization of drug candidates for target validation, hit-to-lead and lead optimization projects.

Scientist/ Investigator, Computational Chemistry  

Key Responsibilities

  • Homology modelling and refinement.

  • Assist target validation.

  • Perform virtual high throughput screening and prioritize top compounds for experimental tests.

  • Guide hit-to-lead and lead optimization.

  • Develop novel methodologies to tackle challenging but important problems to better support CADD effort.

  • Work closely with medicinal chemists, structural biologists and other functionalities in the institute.


Minimum Requirements

  • PhD degree in Computational Chemistry with a record of demonstrated productivity.

  • Minimum 1~3 years of experience with structure-based drug design and 3 years above experience in pharma company is a plus.

Artificial Intelligence Research Scientist/Engineer  

The artificial intelligence group of Global Heath Drug Discovery Institute (GHDDI) is looking for experienced algorithm researchers and engineers in the area of artificial intelligence and data science.

  • AIDD (AI for Drug Discovery) is a newly established division, aiming to revolve and accelerate drug discovery process with leading-edge artificial intelligence technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply deep learning methods (classification, regression, ranking, recommendation, as well as graph neural network, semi-supervised learning, reinforcement learning and Bayesian network) to internal drug discovery projects.

  • Build the multifunctional AI enabling platform to help expedite drug discovery process.


Minimum Requirements

  • Majored in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or equivalent field, MS or PhD desirable.

  • Experienced in at least one of the following fields: traditional machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, knowledge graph, computational chemistry, bioinformatics.

  • Experienced with programming languages: C or C++, Python.
