主要职责

  • 根据研发团队的需求,协助完成实验试剂和耗材的订购、样品存储。

研究助理(微生物学家),疾病生物学  

主要职责

  • 开展普通微生物培养、耐药性检测及其他药物高通量筛选相关的生物学实验。

  • 在P-2实验室环境下进行对人或动物病原菌,病原体的微生物实验。

  • 辅助完成微生物遗传操作和指导员交代的其他科研任务。


任职要求

  • 微生物学或分子生物学、生物化学等相关专业全日制硕士研究生毕业,或优秀微生物专业本科毕业生,具有扎实的专业基础知识。

Scientist/ Investigator (Host Immune Defense), Disease Biology  

Key Responsibilities

  • Study the host response and mechanism of action to infection in various infectious diseases including TB, malaria, viral infection and other public health diseases.

  • Identify the interacting signaling pathways and the key proteins in host cells in responding to pathogens and other environmental challenges.

  • Isolate and establish primary immuno-cell culture based on the special properties of various types of immune cells.

  • In collaboration with assay development group to identify biochemical or cellular assays to screen for cmpds improving host immune system against challenges.

  • Develop additional assays for hit validation and triage.

  • Work closely with medichem group to examine in vitro efficacy of cmds as a guidance to SAR.

  • Responsibilities may vary depending on the training background and experience.


Minimum Requirements

  • PhD degree in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology or the related biological sciences with 0-6 year experience.

  • In depth understanding of and working experience with human innate and/or adaptive immune-regulation.

  • Familiar with immune cell types and their properties/markers and techniques in the field.

  • Good team player, excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Parasitologists & Microbiogist (various levels), Disease Biology  

Key Responsibilities

  • Design screening cascades and implement HTS, hit triage and interpret the results of DMPK and toxicological profiling.

  • Work closely with medicinal chemistry, structural biology and DMPK teams and help select and advance screening hits.

  • Explore molecular targets (mode of actions) of hit/lead/candidate compounds.

  • Initiate, facilitate and organize domestic and international collaborations with academic and industrial partners.

  • Take a leadership role for data analysis and nominate strategies.

  • Mentor team members and help them trouble shoot.

  • Develop written reports and oral presentations for monthly and quarterly meetings and annual reports.

  • Present findings at international meetings and publish to scientific journals.


Minimum Requirements

  • Have a Ph.D in parasitology, microbiology, vector biology, molecular biology, chemical biology or any related area with minimum of 0-2 years of post-graduate research experiences for the Institute Fellow position and 2 to 7 years experiences for the Scientist or Investigator position. MDs who are interested in tropical medicine/public health or DVMs who are interested in tropical zoonotic/livestock diseases or comparative medicine are also encouraged to apply.

  • Have broad understanding of cutting-edge technologies and challenges in anti-microbial drug discovery for neglected diseases.

  • Have basic knowledge of pre-clinical drug discovery efforts including in vitro/in vivo assay design, compound profiling/triaging, understanding of pharmacokinetics and pharmcodynamics, and medicinal chemistry.

  • Have excellent oral and written English communication skills.

  • Be capable of working in an interactive and multidisciplinary team environment while conducting self-directed research within broader goals set by the group.

  • Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to interact effectively with an international network of laboratories and disease experts.

  • Be meticulous in maintaining lab notebooks and data files.

  • The applicants should demonstrate a proven track record of scientific achievements and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Those with in-depth knowledge in genome editing, chemical biology, systems biology, parasite genomics, biomarker discovery, host immunity, vector biology, or in vivo animal model studies will be preferred.

Chief Scientific Officer  

About the Chief Scientific Officer

The Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) will be working with the Institute CEO and Board to develop and manage the Institute's scientific R&D. The CSO will be responsible for developing and managing a world class research team to deliver drug candidates for diseases disproportionately impacting the world's poorest populations. Moreover, the CSO will be responsible for establishing and maintaining scientific collaborations with leading organizations in drug discovery and global health product development. The CSO will play a key role in engaging with GHDDI's Scientific Advisory Committee.
We are looking for a candidate with solid and visionary leadership skills and scientific ability, who is enthusiastic about working in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Additionally, this person should be passionate about taking a key role in shaping the vision and direction of a groundbreaking drug discovery institute. The candidate will have a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline. A demonstrated ability to take initiative and engage in innovative problem solving is critical. A successful candidate must have a track record of success in broad drug discovery research and development, supported by publications and external presentations. Candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to drive results.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all drug discovery projects and scientific operations to ensure the organization meets its scientific objectives.

  • Lead and manage the development of annual scientific goals, including obtaining and acting upon inputs from the Board of Directors, the Scientific Advisory Committee and collaborators.

  • Work closely with the CEO and other executives to ensure that the Board of Directors are well informed. Specifically, responsible for reporting and obtaining feedback on scientific objectives to the Board of Directors.

  • Forge deep, lasting relationships with GHDDI collaborators, including Tsinghua University, Calibr, and product development partners, and funding partners including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Group.

  • Work with the CEO and other executive officers to manage overall business objectives.

  • Set clear expectations, give appropriate autonomy, and guide team members; manage performance by providing feedback, guidance/teaching, and development opportunities.

  • Ensure up to date knowledge of developments in drug discovery research and practices, and timely dissemination of this knowledge.

  • Ensure that the integrity and profile of GHDDI within the scientific community are maintained at a high level, consistent with the requirements of the business.

  • Develop and ensure that systems, capabilities, and resources are in place to optimize productivity and probability of success of GHDDI scientific team.

  • Oversee the overall management of the laboratory team, such as by ensuring adherence to an agreed upon budget, building and developing a world class team, and identifying technology and other needs.

  • Represent GHDDI in the scientific community, including representing GHDDI at scientific conferences and communicating through scientific presentations and publications.

  • Ensure that GHDDI develops and adheres to policies on Health, Safety and Environment.


Qualifications Education

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline required.


Required Experience and Skills

  • At least 10 years of drug discovery or development experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry (or relevant/equivalent experiences in academia), with track record of success.

  • Innovative and strategic thinker.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Disease Biologist (various levels), Disease Biology  

Key Responsibilities

  • Have years of experience and in-depth understanding of infectious diseases and targets, and have the knowledge to strengthen the translational aspects of the projects.

  • Initiate project/target identification. Coordinate all functions to ensure a smooth progress, and make scientific decisions timely.

  • Be responsible for assay development, HTS, biochemical, cellular and other experiment design and performance. Animal model and/or pharmacology experience is a plus.

  • Result driven, multi-task, strong communication and presentation skill.

DMPK, Platform  

Key Responsibilities

  • The individual will be responsible, working with CROs, to design, analyse, report pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics data to support drug discovery programs.

  • Be responsible to assess ADME and physicochemical properties of NCEs, plasma protein binding, permeability, solubility, stability, aggregation, from early leads, preclinic candidate to clinic drug candidate, at all stages of drug discovery process.

  • The DMPK will join project teams at the early stage to ensure effective integration of pharmacokinetics and accelerate the progress and facilitate the translational efforts at the later stage. Make dose assessment in animal models and humans.

  • The DMPK should be familiar with and suggest for formulation methods.

  • Support internal projects and external collaborations in developing project.


Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, or related field with a specific focus on pharmacokinetics.

  • 5 years pharmaceutical industry experience in the conduct of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics support.

  • Desirable to have experience as a team member representing DMPK department on interdisciplinary project teams.

Head of Preclinical and Early Clinical Development  

Key Responsibilities

  • Key member of GHDDI Scientific Leadership Team.

  • Provides overall strategy and direction of preclinical and early clinical trials, processes and procedure.

  • Responsible for coordinating the acquisition of necessary medical/scientific input from outside experts/consultants/advisors.

  • Design preclinic candidate (PCC) development plan and oversee all activities from PCC to IND submission.

HTS Automation (Leader and various levels), Lead Generation  

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain automated HTS platform.

  • Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain HTS automation system

Institute Fellow/ Scientist (Artificial Intelligence), Computational Chemistry

Investigator and above, Medicinal Chemistry  

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the medicinal chemistry activities of one or more small-molecule drug discovery projects at target validation, hit to lead or lead optimization stages.

  • Work together with core team members across multiple disciplines to design and implement project strategies for the advancement of projects leading to the identification of high-quality preclinical candidates.

  • Independently design biologically active molecules and conduct SAR studies to meet the project goals; design synthetic routes and lead the internal or external chemistry team in the synthesis and characterization of drug candidates for the projects.

  • Work with computational chemistry group to develop structure-based target molecules for projects.

  • Proactively communicate project strategy, critical issues and recommendations to enable appropriate resource decisions.

  • Provide supervision, scientific mentorship and technical training of the team members.

  • Maintain excellent communication across internal and external team members.


Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or related discipline.

  • A minimum of five years of experience in medicinal chemistry required; candidates with demonstrable hands-on small molecule drug discovery and pre-clinical development experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry highly desired.

  • Strong track record of individual and team-level contributions to the discovery and pre-clinical development of small molecule clinical candidates supported with high impact publications, oral presentations and patent applications.

  • Excellent background and expertise in organic chemistry with a high level of synthetic skill including novel route design is essential.

  • Demonstrated project leadership experience in leading all stages of small molecule drug discovery with the ability to define strategy and critical decision making.

  • Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with members of the research and management teams in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.

  • Experience in leading and collaborating with chemistry teams from CROs is a plus but not required.

Manager/Sr. Manager, R&D External Innovation  

Key Responsibilities

  • Search, identify and assess potential R&D opportunities with external partners which are in align with the Institute's priorities and strategy.

  • Closely work with various internal functions and disease groups to develop collaborative projects, ensure successful progression and outcome of these projects, and further develop collaboration opportunities.

  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with external partners worldwide including collaborators, key stakeholders, biotech and pharma companies, and industry and academic KOLs.

  • Responsible for agreements, term sheets and other relevant documents, and negotiating major complex terms and transactions.

  • Conduct financial/business analysis to support external transaction process.

  • Lead execution of potentially multiple types of agreements include research collaboration agreements and supply agreements.

  • Other relevant projects and tasks assigned by Institute leaders.


Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceuticals industry with at least 2 years of experience in business development or relevant areas.

  • MD or Ph.D. in bio-sciences, medical science, chemistry, pharmaceutical science or equivalent. host-pathogen interaction or cellular immunology is highly appreciated. Hands-on experience in assay development and HTS would be a plus.

  • Skilled at the fundamentals of biotech/pharmaceutical business development – networking, evaluation, partner discussions/negotiations, term sheets, agreements, etc.

Microbiologist & Immunologist (various levels), Disease Biology  

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and perform cellular/phenotypic assays for HTS and other biological experiments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with scientists and IT to meet research needs.

  • Be responsible for scientific software rollout, training, customization, applications and trouble shooting.

Scientist/ Investigator (Assay Development), Lead Generation  

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate biochemical, biophysical and cellular assays.

  • Biochemical assays include ELISA, alpha assay, TR-FRET, all sorts of functional readout of enzymatic activity and any innovative assay formats.

  • Enable technologies for protein and small compounds biophysical binding evaluation. Technologies include but not limited to ITC, SPR, TSA, NMR etc.

  • Establish cellular assays to evaluate the biological function of pathogens in infectious disease and to monitor the pathogen-host cell interaction in an environment most recapitulating the actual pathological condition.

  • Develop high content imagine based phenotypical screening.

  • Adapt various assays to automated lab equipment for high throughput screening.

  • Validate the established assays to ensure characterization and identification of small compounds.

  • Data analysis and management using standard software as well as customized sophisticated software.

Scientist/ Investigator (Biological Chemist & Pharmacologist), Disease Biology

  • Perform determination of the mode of action of antibacterial small molecules.

Scientist/ Investigator (Biophysicist & Structural Biologist), Platform  

Key Responsibilities

  • The candidate should have hands on experience on Biacore SPR analysis or hands on experience on Cryo-EM manipulation with 1-6 years of post-doc or working experience in life science or drug discovery.

Assistant to CSO  

Key Responsibilities

  • Support CSO and the whole R&D team to deal with the routine documentation work and administrative work efficiently, including schedule meeting, record meeting minutes, arrange travels, maintain files and record, prepare presentation materials etc.
